As artificial intelligence transforms how organizations operate, regulations struggle to keep pace. Consulting and organizational psychologists are increasingly called upon to guide ethical decision-making in this uncertain landscape—where the absence of clear legal standards leaves room for both rapid innovation and significant harm. Led by attorney and AI ethics expert Erin Austin, Esq., this session explores how anticipatory leadership applies to AI adoption: acting not just in compliance with the law, but in alignment with enduring ethical principles of fairness, transparency, and human dignity. Through case studies and facilitated discussion, participants will learn how to self-regulate responsibly—building ethical frameworks that foster trust, protect reputations, and ensure AI enhances rather than erodes human potential.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to anticipate emerging risks. Confidently identify where rapid AI innovation creates ethical and professional challenges that may affect their own consulting work and research.

2. Participants will be able to strengthen professional judgement. Apply anticipatory leadership principles to make sound, ethics-based decisions in areas where laws and professional standards are still evolving.

3. Participants will be able to integrate ethical foresight into practice. Develop practical approaches-such as policy guidelines, disclosure practices, or evaluation checklists-that help them model ethical leadership and credibility in their own work.
